Syrie James, author of "Jane Austen’s First Love" will be speaking to JASNA San Diego Members at the Poway Library. She will have a PowerPoint presentation with lovely images about the research behind the novel, and the ground-breaking information she discovered about Edward Taylor, the young man Jane Austen mentioned with great affection in several of her preserved letters.

Sharman French, JASNA San Diego member, will be leading an Embroidery workshop on how to make Georgian Handkerchiefs as featured in Alison Larkin’s book: Jane Austen Embroidery. The kits will be available for a nominal fee provided by Sharman.

Join us for a good time as we discuss "Georgette Heyer‘s Regency World" by Jennifer Kloester, in our book group that meets every other month in person. Georgette Heyer wrote twenty-six novels set in the Regency world and all meticulously researched. This book is an entertaining guide for all fans of Heyer, Austen and the glittering details of Regency life. We‘ll also be continuing to plan our future books. "And to all this she must yet add something more substantial, in the improvement of her mind by extensive reading." Who are we to refuse Mr. Darcy‘s instructions?! Arlene Harris, JASNA San Diego member, will provide recipes from a cookbook by Robert Tuesley Anderson that features modern recipes inspired by the food and dining of Jane Austen’s novels. Attendees will choose a recipe to make in advance and will then share the finished product with other attendees. Open to members and their guests.
