Lady Susan Balboa Park Discussion
Saturday, June 20th at 11:00am – 1:00pm
House of England, Balboa Park

Written in 1794 by a teen-aged Jane Austen, Lady Susan tells the story of a beautiful, scheming widow, Lady Susan “the most accomplished coquette in all of England” and her shy daughter, Frederica. When Lady Susan’s flirtations in London become too outrageous, and Frederica refuses her mother’s plans to marry her off to a rich fop, they both flee to the country estate of their wealthy relatives, the Vernons. There they meet the handsome Reginald, heir to the DeCourcy fortune. Reginald falls for Lady Susan. Frederica falls for Reginald. Will Lady Susan’s schemes work?
