North County Reading Group – March

March 8, 2015 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDT

This month’s discussion topic
Dress for Success: How do costume choices in Austen film adaptations influence perceptions of the characters?

Oscar season is upon us, so let’s all sumon our inner Joan Rivers to discuss the best and worst dressed! Which Austen character has the “what was she thinking” fashion moment? Does the different clothing in each film adaptation change your view of Lizzie? Why do only the ‘bad’ characters seem to wear turbans? Why, oh why, does the most recent Pride and Prejudice not have pretty empire waist dresses?!?

We’ve created some Pinterest boards for reference for the meeting. Please check them out on the website here:

When: Mar. 8th, 2pm – 4pm
Where: Cafe Stoked, 1215 San Elijo Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078 | cafestoked.com

Join us for a lively discussion of the Austen film costumes at this month’s new location, Cafe Stoked. Parking is free. There is a parking lot in the back or parallel parking on the street. They have tea, coffee, smoothies, and food for sale. If the weather is nice, we’ll grab the large table on the back patio so don’t forget a hat!
