What Would Jane Eat? In May we’ll find out…Carrie Marrow will be talking about  FOOD in the Regency period. Come and learn about the main staples, preservation and preparation of food, common menus for different occasions and daily meals.

Carrie Morrow is a Lecturer in the Literature & Writing and First-year Programs departments at California State University, San Marcos, and in the English Department at San Diego Mesa College.  After graduating from University of California, San Diego, she received her first M.A. from CSUSM, and her second M.A. from the University of Kent, Canterbury (in England).  She currently teaches composition and literature courses, and specializes in 18th – 19th century English literature, as well as Film and Translation Theory.

She plans to cover common dining practices and methods, including preparation and menus, and etiquette.  Carrie will also compare the customs of everyday meals in the middle class, and dining experienced by our favorite, upper-class individuals.

Foodstuffs:  For refreshments, let’s try some Regency recipes. Everyone who can, please food a period food item to share. Below are links to some online sources.
